It’s cold outside – do you need warming up? Let’s talk sex…

I've just written the first (of a few planned) sex scenes in my manuscript. It is not a 'door closed' book where the reader feels only the chemistry but details are left to the imagination. There is a lot of advice out there about writing such scenes. Some people believe there are rules one should… Continue reading It’s cold outside – do you need warming up? Let’s talk sex…

Flash Fiction

For my children

Giving myself rare reading time of other writer’s posts and some are just too good NOT to share …. I love this poem!

Afterwards

My memories will fade one day

my eyes will shine less bright

and into dark I’ll surely slip

but you’ll remain my light

The best of me I hope I gave

My smile, my laugh my frown

from good and bad, your path I shaped

you’res the thing’s I’ve handed down

Your hand I help, your head I kissed

scraped knee and fever soothed

beside your bed all night I sat

a heart once hard so moved

And seasons pass, I watch and smile

you clamber, fight and strive

too quick to run before you walk

eyes bright and so alive

Each year that passes I embrace

such change and watch you grow

my hand let go you walk alone

and deep inside I know

Too soon my time will surely pass

alone you’ll be but find

your joy and hope and always feel

the love we leave behind

DAILY WORD PROMPT, Life

Ok, hands up …

.... whose Christmas Tree only made it as far as the garden? This is precisely the sort of thing Japanese Monks would not allow to happen. They never allow a no-longer-needed item to merely congregate with further objects of past usage. They give away, recycle, burn, break down. They see items no longer needed by… Continue reading Ok, hands up …

She looked down to check but the pink socks with the dirty fluffy soles were quite free of shackles. His voice - hoarse from… Continue reading When your heartbeat is the only thing you can hear …

WELLBEING

Take the next 3 minutes to dream; a visual treat, I promise

I love that shutterbug a) shared this with us today, but b) gets side-tracked like me.
Turn the sound up really loud, and lose yourself.
Tears were dripping off my jaw before the video was even half way through; but that’s because I’m a bit emotional today – for no good reason – and this just melted me. xxx

You have to love the internet. Somehow you begin looking up recipes and end up on a completely different topic an hour later, still hungry and wondering what to make for supper.  Anyway, I thought I would share this incredibly beautiful video with you. If you have 3 minutes to spare, it’s worth checking out.

FAMILY LIFE

Armageddon Ice-age is coming ..

Allegedly. This weekend onwards for at least a week. Siberian winds and icy temperatures such as we haven't experienced in recent years in the UK for longer than a day or two. Let's make a lasagne while we talk weather. Being a farmer's wife, the weather has always featured in our day, many times a… Continue reading Armageddon Ice-age is coming ..

When rejection leads to improvement

As promised, Harlequin Mills & Boon did indeed send me some feedback today on that potential first chapter and synopsis which I rather rushed in order to submit before the competition deadline last Thursday. Their email is a reassuring mix of helpful tips where I have let myself down and positive praise - they like my… Continue reading When rejection leads to improvement
