I’m not ignoring you; I’m lost already in my new read – JoJo Moyes’ ‘Me Before You’.
The lion told me to do it – he’s very convincing, look!
He must have heard my silent calls to myself about writing a novel!!

I just finished “The Evolution of God” by Robert Wright. Fascinating historical undergirding to where we are today with respect to religion.
Before that i read Dickens only other historical novel (besides A Tale of Two Cities), called “Barnaby Rudge.”
The most recent contemporary fiction i read was The Book Thief. It was completely enthralling!
Thinking of picking up an Orwell next.
Enjoying your posts, Viola. ๐

Thank you Katherine ๐ธ
Barnaby Rudge – I recall we had a cat called that when I was young! I shall ask my mother if the choice of name was linked with the book ๐
Your last read sounds challenging but rewarding…
I must add an Orwell to my list of โought to have read by nowโ !!

Haha, what a fantastic name for a cat!
Quickest Orwell read is Animal Farm — deceptively simple, layered allegory.

I’m reading Tina Brown’s “The Vanity Fair Diaries”. Showbiz, New York , Woman at age of 30 into a high powered job, parties, psychology, power brokering, it’s all there. It’s an interesting read.

I like the sound of that … I went to New York once. Was pregnant with second child. Stood on top of the South Tower of the World Trade Centre ๐ฑ
Ooh, I feel a blog coming on!! x

I read Me Before You – I liked it! I am reading “Oryx and Crake” by Margret Atwood. So far, so good! I have been able to read “Beartown” by Fredrik Backman, “The Boy on the Bridge” by Carey and “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates so far for 2018 – all have been very enjoyable (in very different ways)

Wow, Robyn – youโre on a roll ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
I read a lot before having children; then a huge break of around 15 years when I never found the time nor energy (I know that sounds ironic because you donโt need energy but you need focus is what I mean perhaps).
Now I am making up for it!
Margaret Atwood I have heard is very good … what a fascinating title! What is it about?

I enjoy a good post apocolyptic story, and I saw it rated 5th in a top 12 list of post apocolyptic stories. Here is part of the synopsis – “Not only has the rest of humanity save the main protagonist been eradicated, but the world has been taken over by a new race of genetically engineered, docile, simplistic humans. Atwood has a knack for writing dystopian novels that are close enough to our own reality as to be almost feasible, and that is what makes them so delightfully creepy.” I am still in the first 100 pages but I am enjoying the flow.

Thank you for sharing .. I might investigate this myself on the back of your comment here ๐๐ผ … reminds me a little of Will Smithโs film .. โI am Legendโ (is that itโs name?)

Yes – I saw that one! I liked that movie, too. That one had zombies – kind of like The Walking Dead kind of thing. This one doesn’t have zombies – the “others” are different, and not out to kill (so far). Anxious to see how this one turns out!

I’m reading a collection of Desmond Tutu’s essays called _God Is Not a Christian and Other Provocations_ and _Henry David Thoreau: A Life_.

Wow .. they sound really interesting. Thought-provoking. Desmond Tutu … a name weโve all grown up hearing about on the news… what obscure fact can you think of off the top of your head now you are reading him..
