A lovely blogger who recently had an extra four-legged friend in her house (and who kindly peruses my posts, and was a reading buddy alongside Joseph Beech when we three enjoyed Gail Tsukiyama‘s title ‘THE SAMURAI’S GARDEN’) made a suggestion upon which I’ve decided to act.
Ortensia was quite right. The bonsai on the right needs to change its name by deed-poll from Gail to Matsu (my first choice was a dedication to this brilliant author).
This tree was quickly joined by a second bonsai – on the left – whom we shall now name Sachi (once there were two, it would have been ridiculous not to name them after the soulmates and (we assume) life-long lovers, whose personal stories and journeys are such heart-warming lessons in humanity and kindness.
Yes it’s my birthday today ๐ and funny how the PostCode Lottery people have sent me a card. I’d rather them send a member of staff sporting an oversized envelope holding a metre long cheque with lots of noughts ๐คฃ
‘Life of Pi’ is on Film4 right now. God what a book that was. Absolutely stunning – I recall the twist at the end which in my naivety I hadn’t seen coming and and was blown away by it.
It’s a story which has stayed in my memory. The messages and morals within had an impact on me and yet I read it sixteen years ago, long before I was being mindful about how people tick. I suspect I would see even more now.
Pointless post, other than to inform you I’m still alive … ๐
Gosh, Happy Birthday for last Wednesday! I am still trying to catch up with my e-mails! I hope that someone from the postcode lottery turns up with that cheque for you soon. Then hopefully us next ๐
