English villages, where time has stood still ðŸŒ¸

This morning while I was out delivering, I elected to finally stop at a church stall in a village which I drive through at least once a week.

How cute is it, with it’s paperbacks and toys, trinkets and plants cuttings? All to raise a few pennies for the church. What I love best is the ‘honesty box’ … the trust of humans for their fellows to add to it, not break into it and steal the contents.

I happily popped more than my expected £1.50 into the wall after I’d chosen a psychological thriller by Nicci French and a mint plant 👌🏼

I just adore the simplicity of local communities donating items for the recycling pleasure of others and raising money in the process.

With over 8,000,000 copies sold, I suspect I shall enjoy this read as much as a £7.99 brand new thriller from a book store. The Safe House has evidently had a cover makeover as you see here the new version available on Amazon;

and the blurb:

Nicci French’s sophisticated, compassionate and gripping crime novels stand head and shoulders above the competition’ Sophie Hannah
