Now, why haven’t I thought of that??
Huh??
Answer me that …
Now, before you get all…
Take a second to hear me out.
It is completely OKAY to re-use old content. You might have noticed lately that I have been re-sharing writing and blogging advice that I posted in the past.
Here’s why:
- My Blog is Growing! (Which is awesome by the way) And that means that I have new followers.
- New followers means that I have people currently following my blog and reading my posts who have not seen the old posts.
- So, I share the old posts for two primary reasons:
- So that my new followers will have access to writing and blogging tips previously published
- And that my old followers will be reminded of writing and blogging tips they have previously read.
Not only is this beneficial for my followers, new or vintage, but it is helpful for me as well because it helps fill up my blogging…

Never re-posted, but I think it’s ok if there’s a more than tenuous link with your current post/ramblings/thoughts. If you write about a wide range of subjects it could help new viewers find common ground rather than wading through a screed of older posts. Its a time thing, most of us don’t have enough. If there’s something to add or you feel an older post helps the impact of the latest, go for it. Food for thought.

This is very helpful, thank you for posting. I hardly ever repost perhaps a few times in all the time I’ve had my blog. I’m going to try though. Once I cross posted an appropriate old blog post on LinkedIn. Not the same, but reuse ‘old’ content.

Absolutely … even if you chose one a week and introduce it in some novel way?!

And of course it’s sometimes fun to add any new insights you may have now to the old posts or also interesting to see a then and now comparison 😊 just saying! Great post xx

I think I’ll be posting warnings above any reposts I do of my own which say something like ‘Written when my brain had departed during a row. I thought it was good, but I’ve just re-read it and now I need you all to confirm how terrible it actually is!!!’

Interesting post. I’ve got over a years worth of blog posts now so I was wondering about sharing some of my older posts for people who wouldn’t have seen them yet, and this has confirmed it’s something bloggers can do. Thanks!

Definitely .. I so agree. Even our long-term followers may not have seen each of our posts anyway as they’ll not have been sat at the computer, or had their notifications pinging on their phone at the times we all posted!
We all have a wealth of past prose which could receive new eyes and therefore be rekindled?! I shall definitely look back at mine … when I’ve time!!

That’s the key too, isn’t it? Finding the time 😅.
