OUR BRAVE FIREFIGHTERS

Such a horrible reality going on .. and on and on … fire on that scale is simply petrifying. My heart goes out to all those affected.

Patty’s moving poem captures the efforts of the experts so well and I am reminded of the film I watched last year – ONLY THE BRAVE – which was based on a harrowing true story of fire fighters.

The heat,unimaginably unbearable
The scorching flames above
The dance of evil all around
Destroying all that you love.

Your house and your belongings
Everything you have worked for
In a matter of minutes, it’s over
The fire marches right thru your door.

The firefighters bravely fighting
The wind and drying brush
QThey push ahead through all the noise
They hear the roar, the fire’s cruel thrust.

Ferociously it moves about
At a speed unknown to man
The planes above drop their loads
Doing the very best they can.

But, it’s not enough to fight the blaze
To fight the furnace deep below
As it thunders across the valley
As it roars and continues to grow.

The fire, pure evil …ravaging
Everything within it’s path
Burning, and destroying
There’s nothing left, all turned to ash.

English villages, where time has stood still 🌸

This morning while I was out delivering, I elected to finally stop at a church stall in a village which I drive through at least once a week.

How cute is it, with it’s paperbacks and toys, trinkets and plants cuttings? All to raise a few pennies for the church. What I love best is the ‘honesty box’ … the trust of humans for their fellows to add to it, not break into it and steal the contents.

I happily popped more than my expected £1.50 into the wall after I’d chosen a psychological thriller by Nicci French and a mint plant 👌🏼

I just adore the simplicity of local communities donating items for the recycling pleasure of others and raising money in the process.
